TB5 Titanium Alloy Casting and Forged Products

Between the vast blue sky and the deep space, every breakthrough of aircraft is inseparable from the innovation of material technology. There is a kind of metal material, with its core strength of being lightweight, high-strength and resistant to extreme environments, has become a "hot commodity" in the aerospace field. It is the TB5 titanium alloy (Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al). From the key structures of fighter jets to the core components of satellites, its presence is everywhere, silently safeguarding every flight and exploration.
Lightweight and high-strength coexist, unlocking a new height of flight efficiency
For aerospace equipment, "weight reduction" and "toughness" are like two sides of a coin, both indispensable. TB5 titanium alloy perfectly balances these two major demands. Its density is only 4.48g/cm³, equivalent to 60% of steel, but after aging treatment, it can burst out a tensile strength of 1200-1400MPa, with a specific strength far exceeding traditional aluminum alloys and steels.
Take the umbrella beam structure of a fighter jet as an example. After replacing the traditional 30CrMnSiA steel with TB5 titanium alloy, the weight was successfully reduced by 28.6% (about 1.13kg). This seemingly small weight reduction can significantly improve the fuel efficiency of the aircraft, increase the effective payload, allow fighter jets to carry more weapons and equipment, and reduce the operating costs of passenger aircraft, becoming an "invisible booster" for improving flight performance.
TB5 titanium alloy, an unstable beta-type titanium alloy, boasts exceptional cold forming capabilities in its solution state, with cold rolling deformation exceeding 90%. It can effortlessly handle complex parts such as resistance parachute beams and cold-formed fasteners like rivets and bolts. Compared to traditional alpha+beta titanium alloys like TC4, TB5 titanium alloy can achieve high-precision forming without intermediate annealing, simplifying the production process, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring the stability of part quality, perfectly meeting the stringent requirements for precision components in the aerospace industry.
The "Guardian" of Extreme Environments, with Maximum Durability
During flight, aircraft are exposed to various harsh conditions such as high-altitude high temperatures and marine salt spray. TB5 titanium alloy is the "tough defender" against these challenges. It maintains stable performance in high-temperature environments ranging from 300 to 600 degrees Celsius, making it an ideal material for manufacturing hot-end components of aero-engines, ensuring reliable operation under high temperature and pressure and extending the engine's service life.
Moreover, the oxide film formed on its surface has excellent corrosion resistance, effectively resisting the erosion of seawater and chlorides. It is particularly suitable for carrier-based aircraft and aerospace equipment in marine environments, significantly reducing equipment corrosion losses and maintenance costs.
All-scenario adaptability, a true "versatile player" in aerospace
The application scope of TB5 titanium alloy almost covers all core areas of aerospace, making it a "versatile player":
- In the field of structural components: It can replace steel to manufacture fuselage frames and wing spars, reducing weight by over 40%, which not only enhances flight performance but also lowers the risk of structural fatigue.
- In the field of fasteners: The rivets and bolts it produces are both high-strength and fatigue-resistant, widely used in B1B bombers, Boeing passenger aircraft, etc., ensuring structural safety.
- In the field of engine components: It is used in key parts such as compressor blades and turbine discs, improving the thrust-to-weight ratio of engines and enhancing reliability under extreme conditions.
- In the field of satellite components: Through blow molding technology, it can manufacture satellite corrugated plates, cones, etc., achieving lightweight design and creating possibilities for satellites to carry more scientific instruments.
Outstanding in both economy and compatibility, an ideal choice for mass production
In addition to its outstanding performance, TB5 titanium alloy also has significant advantages in economy and process compatibility. It can flexibly adjust its properties through "solution + aging" treatment to meet the needs of different components; it has a potential match with carbon fiber composite materials, effectively avoiding galvanic corrosion and making multi-material composite structures safer and more reliable.
