Casting is a foundational manufacturing process where liquid material—typically metal, plastic, or a multi-component mixture like epoxy or concrete—is poured into a pre-formed mold. This mold features a hollow cavity shaped precisely to the desired final geometry. The material is then allowed to cool and solidify within the mold. Once fully set, the resulting solid part, known as a casting, is ejected or removed from the mold to complete the production cycle. This method is highly valued for its ability to produce complex, detailed shapes in a single step, making it essential across industries from automotive to aviation.
